I get this when I try to access a java applet in firefox:
Code:

mystic@NICK ~ $ firefox

I had problems getting the java plugin to work with mozilla a while back, but after following this guide everything was hunky dory.

Give it a try - it all matches up well between firefox and mozilla.

I followed all the steps in the guide and got the same results.

Judging by a Google Search, this is not a bug with Java, but perhaps with xorg-x11. :?:

Code:

NICK mystic # emerge jedit
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-editors/jedit-4.2 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) jedit42source.tar.gz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking jedit42source.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/jedit-4.2/work
>>> Source unpacked.
doc
Buildfile: build.xml

init:

BUILD FAILED
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2_rc1/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Total time: 0 seconds

!!! ERROR: app-editors/jedit-4.2 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 36, Exitcode 1
!!! compile problem
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

You have compiled X.org without "xprint". Recompile X.org with "xprint" enabled. This should fix last message.

P.S.
Blackdown JDK is less stable than IBM or Sun, why not use them?

I will install IBM or Sun Java later today, if that is the case. Which of the two do you prefer?

I will recompile xorg-x11 now.
