Hi all
I know that to allow file transfers to a sinlge MSN client behind a NAT router, you just forward ports 6891-6900 to the computer that will be the client. I'm trying to run four msn clients behind a nat router by forwarding 6891 and 6892 to the first, 6893 and 6894 to the second etc. Unfortunately, this doesn't work because the client tries to receive on 6891 first, and when that fails it stops trying to connect.
I'm using Kopete 0.9.0 (KDE 3.3.0) as the client, but the other computers use Gaim and MSN Messenger (official client). The router is a Netgear DG834 and I've turned uPNP off on the router because (last I heard) it was a gaping security hole. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one.
Any ideas what I can do? it'd be good if I can tell each client to use a different range of 10 ports then map each set through to the right computer. Is this possible, or is the MSN network so restrictive as to stop transfers to ports other than 6891-6900?
Thanks! |

how about install a socks proxy in front of the router and forward these ports to him? then you'll force your client to use that for file transfers. _________________ Come disse un amico, i sistemisti sono un po' come gli artigiani per l'informatica
