|
|
I installed the linux client a few days ago. I followed all the instructions to the letter, but when I try to run it all I get is a blank screen, then after a short wait I hear a 'ding' sound, then X restarts. Anyone have any ideas as to why the happens? And how to fix it?
PS. I tried running the game as root and it works fine. Could it be a permission issue? |

Did you install as root? I installed mine as a normal user in my home directory. |

I emerged it. It's my understanding that you have to be root to emerge.
Code: | %USE=nowin emerge -a nwn |

you emerged it but that does nothing but give u the latest patch. did you download the source files first and install them?
if you didnt just do a quick search and i have a post with a link with a fast server with the source files. the download is a little over a gig. you install or extract them to... /opt/NWN or /opt/Neverwinter (check and see where portage installed the patch) and then after you're done with that, re emerge so the latest patch is applied then run the fixinstall file so the game will run
that should get u going

I did download all the source files. That's what the 'USE=nowin' does. As I said before I can run the game as root just fine, but not as a regular user.
Thanks anyway |
