Ok, perhaps I should have heeded all the advice w/ people telling me that NFS has issues, because my file server is going NUTS.
Everything was working fine, my shares were available, I was doing great!
Today, out of nowhere, my shares are *not* available to my workstations, and it's making me nuts.
Somehow, either as a side-effect or entirely coincidentally, my sshd won't accept connections - it's a dead server.
By all accounts everything is working, I can hop on the machine one-to-one and all of the services are "working" and there isn't a problem, according to the server.
On any client machine I can ping the box but I cannot connect to ssh and my shares aren't available. Upon boot, for example, my laptop tells me:
Quote: |
RPC: Program not registered
|
Rooting around the internet, most people attribute this error to hosts.allow & hosts.deny, both of which have been setup correctly on my server for some time now - like I said before, the shares always mounted and worked, for weeks now!
I'm at a loss, what's up? Any ideas?
Thanks! |

# /etc/init.d/nfs status
Perhaps portmap is not running...?
# rpcinfo -p
On nfs server:
# ps -ef |grep nfsd |

checked before, it was and is running.
It's not like I have iptables running and there's an issue w/ ports, there's nothing blocking those ports so I dunno why, when both ssh and nfs/netmount/etc. are running, I can't connect?
I'm boggled! |
