Hi, I have installed Gentoo (2004.2) but I cant make my eth0 work. Its a Broadcom 44xx.

I compiled my kernel with support for this model, but it doesnt work.

The eth0 is up, it takes an IP (static), I even can ping this IP (itself), but nothing else.

I dont even see the link lights on.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

All I could guess would be that the card itself is not working, or you have some sort of firewall blocking pings.

With Mepis (just booting from the CD) it works flawlessly, so its not the card.

I have no firewall installed

Recently had similar on a Dell laptop.
Works fine on the LiveCD, not after the 2.6.8-r3 2004.2 build.
Even tried to steal the module from the LiveCD, but it wouldn't load - invalid format IIRC.
Go to the Broadcom site and download their package - it's a zip that contains a source tar and an RPM (ignore the latter).
Compile and you're away.
