Browsers unfathomably slow

Both firefox and konqueror (the only browsers I have on my box) are rendering (is that the right word?) some website unfathomably slow. For example http://www.dabs.com/uk takes about 20 finish loading. This, and other websites however are fine. It's possibly since xorg though I'm not sure. I know it's not an internet connection thing as other computers on my network are working fine.

Unfortunately, unfathomably slow is just a bit on the vague side.
Is the slowness in DNS-lookups, in datatransfer or in the actual rendering?

On investigation it's data transfer; it starts of (according to knoqueror) at about 5KBps, and then deteriorates quickly so that within about 10 seconds it's down to 30Bps.

Had this when upgraded to dev-sources 2.6.8 ; it'

Add:-

net.ipv4.tcp_default_win_scale = 0

to the end of /etc/sysctl.conf
