Xscreensaver Locks System

I recently sitched to x.org, the nvidia driver, and xscreensaver. I had been using XFree, nv, and xlockmore. After switching, my system started locking up with the keyboard lights flashing.

I checked around on the forums and tried some things with the nvidia drivers and some kernel options, and also switched back to using xlockmore. The lock-ups stopped.

Figuring that it was the nvidia fixes that stopped the crashes, I went back to xscreensaver. My system started locking up again. Nothing is showing up in any of the logs to indicate what the problem is.

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to fix this?

Is there any way to get some diagnostic output when the system locks up?

Another odd thing. Xscreensaver goes into screensave mode while I am typing if I am not using the mouse. Very annoying since I rarely use my mouse.
