First they told us that the binaries would be available for download shortly after release. When they didn't come in a week, people speculated they would come after the dedicated server. Now people are saying that id won't concentrate on it until after the demo is out.

One person told me that the Mac and GNU / Linux versions were scrapped, and that Doom 3 depends on OpenGL for it's core, but uses many satellite DirectX features. He said that this was a result of designing it partially for the X-box.

Now, I'm worried. I know better than to believe him, but it's been a while... is Doom 3 coming out for GNU / Linux?

This is total baloney, the game is being tested, privately right now. The feature that is labeled DX9, the heat wave, is really just a special video card command that uses opengl.
