|

Hello;)
This may be some stupid error I have overlooked but ;
I have a cnet pro200 nic, and as far as I can see, this card is supported by the tulip, and dmfe module, both in the kernel.
When I boot from the boot-cd(1.4 rc1), and run "net-setup eth0" , for some reason It will not detect my gateway-dhcp server, running clarkconnect(rh7.2).
When I set a static ip, such as 192.168.1.2 ,192.168.1.255 as broadcast, and 255.255.255.0 as netmask, (my gateway/dhcp-server is 192.168.1.1), I can not ping it, or any other computer on my home network.
When I look at my hub, I can see the led blinking when I try to ping, but for some reason I can not get a "reply".
Trying to ping from one of the windows pc's on the network results in "request timed out"
I find this very strange, because obviously the card is up and running, due to the blinking led, but still, It has no contact with any other machines.
And _yes_ the cable is plugged in, when I boot windows, everything is fine.
If I run ifconfig after setting a static ip I can clearly see that the nic is up and running, and that is has the correct ip.
If i run ifconfig -a after "trying" to get a ip from the dhcp server, the nic is not "up".
Trying to ping myself works fine.
Please, help a noob in trouble;) |

if I do a "route" after trying to get an ip from the dhcp server, there are no entries. If i set my ip manually, it show the basic entry only(let me know if you need it) . |
