Ciao a tutti; ho appena finito di installare la mia gentoo 2004.2 da livecd universale ( stage3 ), e tutto è andato bene fino al riavvio: al reboot infatti parte il grub, seleziono gentoo, il sistema carica il kernel e tutto il resto e a un certo punto tutto si ferma e le ultime righe che compaiono sono:

Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic:VFS:unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

Il mio grub.conf è il seguente:

kernel /kernel-2.6.7 root=/dev/sda3
title=Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

e il mio disco è partizionato nel seguente modo:
/dev/sda1 ntfs,Windows XP
/dev/sda2 ext3, /boot
/dev/sda3 ext3, /
/dev/sda5 swap

Non sono molto sicuro di quello che dico, ma osservo che hai montato la partizione di root su un dispositivo scsi o emulato scsi.
Sei certo che, all'atto del boot, il modulo del kernel necessario venga caricato sufficientemente presto? A volte, per ottenere questo, è necessario creare una immagine mkinitrd.
