Forse a causa di un blackout energetico mentre lavoravo, forse a causa dei raggiunti limiti di anzianità del HD, mi ritrovo con la partizione /home che non si può più montare a causa di un badblock. ho provato ad utilizzare
#reiserfsck --fix-fixable /dev/hda7 oppure
#reiserfsck -B /dev/hda7 oppure
#reiserfsck --rebuild-sb /dev/hda7
ma niente da fare, è sempre la stessa storia:
Will check superblock and rebuild it if needed
Will put log info to 'stdout'
Do you want to run this program?[N/Yes] (note need to type Yes if you do):Yes
The problem has occurred looks like a hardware problem. If you have
bad blocks, we advise you to get a new hard drive, because once you
get one bad block that the disk drive internals cannot hide from
your sight,the chances of getting more are generally said to become
much higher (precise statistics are unknown to us), and this disk
drive is probably not expensive enough for you to you to risk your
time and data on it. If you don't want to follow that follow that
advice then if you have just a few bad blocks, try writing to the
bad blocks and see if the drive remaps the bad blocks (that means
it takes a block it has in reserve and allocates it for use for
of that block number). If it cannot remap the block, use badblock
option (-B) with reiserfs utils to handle this block correctly.
bread: Cannot read the block (16): (Input/output error).

Puoi provare l'utility del produttore dell'harddisk per vedere se il problema è il filesystem o l'hardware.

L'utility del produttore dell'hard disk. Ogni produttore ne mette a disposizione una per fare dei controlli sull'HD.

| ...si... hai l'hd con almeno un settore andato a funghi... l'ultima spiaggia è reiserfs --rebuild-tree... ma tanto quando devi fare quello 99.9% hai già perso tutto... mi è successa la stessa cosa alla partizione di / 4 settimane fa... meno male che /home era salva... e cambia hd!... |

Dai, che percentuale sconfortante 
a me un paio di volte è riuscito a salvare buona parte dei dati

| il rebuild-tree non si avvia neanche; mi sa che mi sono perso tutto. é consigliabile buttare HD o posso riformattare la partizione e continuare ad utilizzarlo? |

A parte che puoi provare a fare un backup con dd (alle volte funziona...), in teoria con le opportune opzioni per badblocks dovresti poter marcare il settore in questione come danneggiato e formattare.
Se poi si romperà ulteriormente o meno dipende dallo stato reale dell'HD.

che tenta di recuperare anche se l'origine è danneggiato come un hd a funghi... ho provato... ma proprio quel settore era troppo schifato... per la cronaca era un IBM/Hitachi da 60 GB (ancora in garanzia)...
...sfogo_1: nello stesso periodo stavo portando il mio gateway P166MMX a Gentoo... partito da stage1... arrivato a kernel + squid + iptables + samba + ogni cosa configurata e mi parte anche quell'hd... 2 in 1 settimana... wow...
...sfogo_2: portage-2.0.51_rc4 mi ha un po' schifato il sistema... emerge sync non va... poi si lamenta che non riesce a rimuovere /usr/portage/distfiles... non ho capito bene perché locka tutto /usr/portage/distfiles/.locks... |
