|
|
Okay, just picked up one of these with some birthday money. First time using a trackball (except for Centipede in the arcade ), but I felt it might be a good time to change before my wrist starts to hurt any more from using a mouse. Had a few questions regarding this trackball.
1) I think I already know the answer to this, but is there anyway to get the drag-lock feature to work in Gentoo?
2) This one probably applies to cordless logitech mice in general, does the trackball naturally support the smart power management, or is this one of those features that is implemented in the drivers? In other words, will I still get long battery life in Gentoo?
3) I am having a lot of difficulty getting used to the trackball. Is this simply because this is the first trackball I've used, or does anybody feel that this trackball model is just a poor one to use?
Aside from all that, the Cordless Optical Trackman is working pretty well. It was recognized right away, since I already had my system set up for a usb mouse. All of the buttons (except for drag-lock) are working, which only required setting it up identically to an Intellimouse Explorer, and once I adjusted the sampling rate, it seems to work pretty smoothly. _________________ Kawada

Hi,
1) the drag lock feature can be enabled using
Code: |
Option "DragLockButtons" "4 1"
|
i hope, that's what this feature is ment to be...
it says, that every time the back arrow (button 4 BEFORE remapping with xmodmap) is pressed, it should simulate a pressed or released button 1.
i could not get the real lock button to work (the one behind the wheel). otherwise this would work by just changing those numbers.
2) no idea.
3) i really like this trackball! it's also my first one and i got used to it within hours and even drag & drop and other "advanced" features work great. maybe you like it more moving the ball with your thumb. just try it at your favorite computer store.
Could you please post or mail me the pointer section from your xf86config? because i could not get to work all the buttons as mentioned above and i'd like to know your samplerate just for comparison. |
