Ok, I installed Gentoo with the Gentoo-Dev-Source 2.6.8-r3 kernel. Everything ran fine on the LiveCD (2004.2), I followed the guide to a T, and when I restart, it loads Grub fine, begins loading Gentoo fine, and right before it gets to the screen where it shows [OK]'s in green, the screen goes blank and I get a flashing "_" up on the top left of the screen. It's like the entire screen shifted up and out of view. It never did this when I used 2004.1. I'm very frustrated and confused, so any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
EDIT: This is on a Dell Inspirion 600M

Tried booting without frambuffer.
