This is very strange. I'm installing Gentoo (I broke the previous install) and am now at installing the system logger.
I'm using the minimum install CD and started with stage1-x86-2004.2.tar.bz2. It's been doing fine up until now.
As the title suggests, the emerge freezes after I emerge syslog-ng: Code: | Calculating dependencies \ |
The \ does not turn. I got out of it (ctrl+alt+backspace) and the cursor blinks. It's not the network card or the network configuration since I can ping www.yahoo.com.
I tried changing the mirrors between ftp://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/
http://gentoo.osuosl.org
which does not help.
Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks! _________________ Clue-less |

I guess I have to start over again. I've been having nothing but trouble with 2004.2 -- this is the fourth attempt to install this version on this computer
It's always something: gdbm breaking "emerge system", 2.6.8.1 kernel does not play nice with Xorg and nvidia-glx, now this. _________________ Clue-less |
