Ive messed around with umask=000, chmod 777 on /mnt/..., and ive added my user to every group related to cds and devices.

Why still, can only root mount my DVD/RW drive?

Also, I have compiled my 2.6.8.1 kernel with NTFS write support, and my windoze partitions can be read and mounted by all, but no-one can write to them, not even root.

Why why why? *begins to cry*

....The ntfs partitions say that it is a read-only device when i try to rename a file (root), and with a normal user the option in gnome to rename or delete etc etc is faded out.

Only root can use cd-record..

"Read-only file system" - is the error i get when trying, as root, in the console to change anything on ntfs

"NTFS write support (NTFS_RW)

This enables the partial, but safe, write support in the NTFS driver.

The only supported operation is overwriting existing files, without
changing the file length. No file or directory creation, deletion or
renaming is possible. Note only non-resident files can be written to
so you may find that some very small files (<500 bytes or so) cannot
be written to."

Ooops

Still need help with the cd thing though 8O
