I'd like to use some of my USB devices with gentoo, but I think that I did something wrong when setting the compile options in the kernel. I've got USB support built in with both USB 2.0 (which I don't have) and VIA USB 1.2 support. I then installed tilp and libusb and attempted to hook my TI-84+ to my computer.
But no dice. First it said that I needed to be part of group "root" . I though this was totally obsurd so I went to /proc/bus/usb and changed the necessairy permissions for all users. Now, it says that it can't find a device when it tries to connect.
What can I do? _________________ Check out my...

Err, I don't have usbview installed, I'll have to emerge that...
As far as kernel stuff, let's see here:
Device Drivers -->
-USB Suupport -->
--USB device filesystem
--EHCI HCD (USB 2.0) support
--UHCI HCD (most Intel and VIA) support
--USB Mass Storage support
--USB Human Interface Device (full HID) support
--HID input layer support
--eGalax TouchKit USB Touchscreen Driver
--Texas Instruments Graph Link USB (aka SilverLink) cable support
Underlined entries are modules, everything else is builtin.
Uhh, I don't think I acutally need USB 2.0 support, perhaps I should remove that. Oh yeah, and I looked in /proc/bus/usb/devices and it has an entry for the texas instruments device.
Should I install hotplug as well as usbview? _________________ Check out my...
