(if this belongs to the networking & security forum please tell me and i'll post it there)
I'm trying to install Gentoo from the Universal livecd but my wireless pci card is not detected, and I don't know which driver in .../drivers/net i should use (or if it exists)
The card is a Conceptronic 54 Mbps pci
Searching with google I found an explanation to solve this problem which involves emerging madwifi-driver, but this explanation assumes you already have a working gentoo system and network conection, which is not the case because I'm still installing Gentoo.
Thanks for your help in advance |

I had a similar problem with my ma311 card. I tried for days to get the Gentoo live cd to find my card, to no avail.
Finally, I found the following tutorial. It shows you how to install Gentoo using the Knoppix CD. Knoppix has significantly better hardware detection, so it might be able to find your card. Also, it gives you a pretty gui to play with while you're compiling your software, which can be nice.
I used the recent 3.6 version of Knoppix, and it worked very well for me.
Good Luck!
