my MX500 is working fine except for the Nav Buttons (back/forward) on the side. When I do $ xev, nothing happens when I click either of the side nav buttons. What do I need to change?
PS- I've read many posts on getting extra buttons to work and they have helped to get my wheel working, but no luck with the Nav buttons.

From what I know, the side buttons will work on mozilla & firefox. If you have one of these nad they don't work, then read these posts again. I have them working in an mx700, with no imwheel and stuff, just a xmodmap. The thread that got me going was:
