I'm installing Gentoo from a stage 1 tarball. When I bootstrap the system, I get this error:
!!! Error: sys-devel/gcc-3.3.4-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 553, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
Does this have something to do with syncing the portage tree? I've done emerge sync a few times, and am right now trying emerge-webrsync.

OK, the emerge-webrsync completed. This time I tried just emerging gcc-3.3.4-r1, and got this error:
!!! Problem in sys-devel/gcc-3.3.4-r1 dependencies.
!!! "Specific key requires an operator (sys-devel/gcc-3.3.4-r1) (ty adding an '=')" |
