installing gentoo via the guide and get to the bit where you have to:

but i get an error at:

Where there no errors when emerging genkernel?
Maybe you forgot this step of the handbook:
Code: | source /etc/profile |
So that your PATH variable is set correctly! |

genkernel emerged fine, thovght i had set the path bvt ill try again
ps. key that goes between "y" and "i" is broken |

still not working
i tried going back a stage (7.c. default: manual kernel config)

# cd /usr/src/linux
bash: cd: /usr/src/linux: no such file or directory

You have to emerge some kernel-sources first. e.g.
Code: | emerge vanilla-sources |
Let me guess! You did that (as described in the handbook).
Maybe your emerge is damaged? Please post the full output of emerge genkernel. |
