What dialer is the dialer of choice to install for CLI usage? I am having trouble w/wvdial. It dials & stays connected for only a little while then bombs, yet pppd is still active & wvdial is still in the process listing.

After installing, configuring providers simple issue pon provider_name (poff provider_name to disconnect).
btw. It is all about editing files in /etc/ppp/peers and /etc/chatscripts/. Pon and poff are simple wrapper scripts...

Hmmm... Are you saying that the pon & poff scripts are what activates/deactivates the connection? I played w/the ppp-config and really didn't understand what dialup interface it affected, so installed wvdial which is less than great, it seems.
