well i finally got xorg-x11 to compile and i also emerged ati-drivers...but when i type startx i get this error:

oh btw i looked at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and it has:

FontPath set to "unix/:7100"

is this wrong? it doesn't seem right...if it's wrong how would i change this FontPath

Maybe try commenting out the BusId "PCI:1:0:0" line in xorg.conf with a leading # and try again.

no dice...did the same thing....i noticed when i boot that it says unable to load module fglrx...and when i try to modprobe fglrx it fails...

but when i look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log it looks as though it's using the fglrx module fine(exept for the problem i'm having)

Never mind i got it...i changed the FontPath in my xorg.conf to what it should be.

sorry for the premature post ...lol
