|
|
I have been having a lot of trouble getting Gentoo to install/compile, as in, lots of Segmentation Faults and the like. I believe it might be a hardware issue, and that's why I posted it here instead of under portage & programming or Installing Gentoo.
My first thought was to check the memory, so I downloaded Memtest-86 v3.1 and tested the memory on it. After 5 run throughs the memory is coming up fine.
My question is this: What other tests should I try in order to consider my hardware "Stable"?

You could download and try stresslinux, and see where that gets you.
But what exactly are the errors, and where do they occur ?
If you're using 2004.2 - that is known to have quite a few glitches. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

I am currently using 2004.2, however I do have some 2004.0 CDs lying around I could try.
Pretty much any time I was trying to compile something I was getting segmentation fault errors that would end the compilation. I don't recall exactly which packages, but it happened a few times with a few different packages, on both stage1 and stage2.
I will check out stresslinux when I get home. |
