i am so new to linux
i cant download any files off the internet unless im logged in as root?
does this have something to do with user groups?
how do i enable downloading for a non-root user?
any help? thanks? |

Well, you should have no problem downloading something as a non-root user (in fact, this is the preferred way), so long as the destination for the file belongs to that user.
As long as you followed the directions in the handbook for adding the user, the appropriate permissions and groups should already be configured:
