I get an error when I try to emerge lsof. I followed the instructions in a thread below about removing the * in front of it for the packages list, and once I did that I could successfully emerge system. But once that's done I still can't emerge lsof. I get an error about linux-sources I believe. What is lsof, and how do I get it emerged, and how important is it?

Could you post the exact error message here? _________________ ________________________________________

No, I'm not in front of my powerbook right now, but it's the same one referenced below (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1770). I did solve the problem though. I was jumping the gun by trying to emerge lsof. After removing the * and emerge system I had to emerge ppc-sources and then I could emerge lsof. I assume that putting the * back now will be successful. Ah the joys of being an early adopter of a product with a smaller user base . _________________ -Rob, Tired med student

I changed the 'virtual/glibc' to 'sys-libs/glibc' and 'virtual/linux-sources' to 'sys-kernel/linux-sources'. That gets lsof emerged. But a better way would probably to update rsync to the latest tree (rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage). |
