I have about 40 .mpg (5-15 megabites each) files that i want to convert to 1 .avi FILE. I wanted to actually burn a CD containing all those small videos so i can watch them on my DVD player, but my dvd player doesnt read .mpg files. I tried and failed with this program "kavi2svcd". Is there any easy way to convert the mpg files to 1 big avi file? ( I estemate the size to be around 350 megabites in total for the .mpg files)

PS: In kavi2svcd it refuses to write do to an error of a CUE file.

PLZ i really want to get these mpg files on a SVCD or a VCD so i can put the CD into my DVD player and play them on my DVD

HELP PPPLLLZZZ!!!!!!
I already spent about an hour searching the forums (these forums) and found nothing that can help+ i spend half the day converting the m2v files to mpg files

Actually, both SVCD and VCD don't support AVI files. You have to burn mpg files on them instead, which could be accomplished by burning them as "images" in XCDRoast. Also, what burning software are you using?

you can probably do it in two stages. That's how I do it. And lots of other people too. First you use some editing program to order the small files into a big one, and then render them into a big one. Usually you can't save it to mpeg2 what dvd wants, so you save it to something else in good quality and than use another program to prepare or render it for a dvd.
My answer is not exactly precise couse I have worked with this on windows and macOs, but not yet under gentoo. Hope it's in any help.

Your problem here is that a vcd/svcd is not just a .mpg file on a cd. It has to be 'imaged' into vcd format, which is just mpeg, but slightly crazy.

You have to use vcdimager to create a vcd image which you can burn. Alternatively you can use k3b which will do this for you.

What i want is a VCD or an SVCD that if its in a DVD player and I press Next Chapter on my remote, it goes to the next video file.

Babo can u recomend an editing program?

I also use Xcdroast and K3b(sometimes) to burn normal CDs (musis mostly)

k3b will do this for you as long as you've got the mpegs in the right format. It's very straightforward. Just create a new videocd project and add videos much like you would add audio files to an audiocd project,

Avidemux has the ability to load the avi file and reencode the file as two separate files, one will be a m1v, just the video stream in VCD format, file will show it as MPEG video stream data. The second one will be a 224kbps, 44.1kHz mp2 stream, the audio. Then, you combine these two into one file, and that one file is the one to burn. The instructions on how to create the files and the final file are on avidemux's website: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/doc/en/divx2vcd.xml.html
