Are you using adsl-setup adsl-start adsl-stop? They come with net-dialup/rp-pppoe.
Version 0: 3.5-r2 works OK with ppp 2.4.2-r10

i am using a dial up modem connection. so i dont think dhcp will work for me.
i got no hardware router.
i typed adsl-setup and configured everything the same way i did when using the live cd.
then i use adsl-start
but it doesnt connect and times out.
maybe do i have to reinstall rp-pppoe or sth like that?
Maybe i made a fault. what do i have to do just to be sure?
i mean i could handle the situation as if i didnt do anything to configure adsl and now want to use it ... so what do i have to install - to do.
also when i start the system and the pp0 adapter (i think thats how hes called ) gets plugged there comes some nonesense in the next line "AZT"
dunno what it means. ahh i am confused sorry ^_^ |

i am having a similar problem, in the new environment i dont have internet access, i do using the livecd.. my modem is adsl but i dont need to enter a password, it is always on, with a switch behind to close the connection when i want.
is it a /etc/resolv.conf issue?
i have this in there
nameserver 192.168.81.2
