We are running a linux machine ( kde 3.2, xorg 6.7.0-r2) and use kdm as manager. After a little crash forcing us to reinstall some parts of the machine, we now have a problem...

The Workstation which tries to connect to the server uses Hummingbird Exceed 7.0.
The network is splitted the following way:
The Wks is installed in a private network (ip: 192.168.1.51) and is connected to a gateway (internal 192.168.1.1, external XXX.XXX.XXX.41), the server has the ip XXX.XXX.XXX.52. (XXX.XXX.XXX is the network of our uni).

When i try to login from the Wks (Start Exceed -> XDMCP Broadcast -> double klick on the server name) exceed hangs. On the Server side i can find the following entries in the logfile:
Code:

Oct  5 12:09:46 jeannie kdm: 192.168.1.51:0[22829]: Hung in XOpenDisplay(192.168.1.51:0), aborting
Oct  5 12:09:46 jeannie kdm: 192.168.1.51:0[22829]: Cannot connect to 192.168.1.51:0, giving up

Now - why does the Xserver (or kdm) use the internal ip of the connecting machine instead of the gateway ip (we use NAT on it), and how can this problem be solved ? We tried a bunch of other XServer here at the university - and only this server is making such problems.
