i've done a quick search of the forums, but haven't found anything that helps me out much.
this is my problem:
my mouse doens't work in kde!
it is detected on boot, and if i do a cat /dev/input/mice i get a bunch of garbage
also if i cat /dev/usbmouse it does the same thing
i've tried running XF86Config but it says command not found.... i don't remember where that program is located, and it doesn't seem to be listed in the Handbook anymore.
any help would be great! thanks! _________________ me |

Did you check /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xorg.conf and look for the input device section?
Theres a place that points to the mouse /dev, you need to make it point to the right place. |

ok, in /etc/X11 there was a xorg.conf.example file
i renamed it to xorg.conf, and put some stuff in ithere for my mouse, but now i get a fatal error "no screens found"
i messed with the dipslay stuff, but think i just messed it up more.
does anyone know what I'm talking about when i talk about the XF86Config setup utility that you run to set up X? _________________ me |

Yes, it's xorgconfig now - rebranding from xf86 y'know
There's an xorgcfg and xorgconfig - one's graphical and one's not, but I always forget which is which.
What does it say just before "no screens found"? That's a pretty general error that basically just says "it doesn't work", but normally X spits something out first saying why not. |
