Hi!

Okay, this is not really important but since this is the first time I've compiled my kernel, I was just wondering..

I used to have this nice looking background when the system was booting up (a pale purple with Larry the Cow in white).. I had the background when I installed Gentoo and used genkernel to compile the kernel. But yesterday, the kernel was updated to 2.6.8-r3 and after everything was done (network running, sound modules added, alsa drivers re-emerged etc), the system doesn't bootup with the background anymore.. and the bootup res used to be 1024 but now it's just the regular resolution (800x600?)

Any ideas on what I missed?

Thanks,
Kristy

The boot background was provided through using frame buffer support (or resolution of text etc) in the kernel and also confiuring bootsplash or Gensplash (splash screen on boot).... many posts in the forums -
this is the main one at the moment I think

and then there is:

and
