I have a Riva TNT2 32MB card ... when using the nv driver that comes with xorg the fonts look weird... much little than it should. I emerged the nvidia-kernel and using it right now with Xorg .. the fonts look great.
Did anyone else see this? _________________ This is what I am |

Yes i saw a difference when changing monitors: from 15in to 19in, the font sizes (in pixels) got bigger. (The actual font sizes--in millimeters--stayed roughly the same). This was using the drivers from nvidia. The nvidia drivers get the size of the monitor from the monitor, and adjust the dpi of the monitor accordingly. The dpi directly affects font sizes. So if the nv driver didn't do this, it'd probably just use a default value like 75 or 100. My dpi is 117, which yields bigger fonts (in pixels) than 100 (and especially 75).
"$ xdpyinfo | grep resolution" to find the dpi of your screen. _________________ Registered Linux User #363420 |
