X usage question

Hi guys.

I'm running gnome on a 2.6.8 kernel...and im noticing that X is using about 34% of my CPU. (which is a pentium4 2 gig)

This is with only gaim open...could anyone tell me if that is normal?

Gaim has always been a resourse hog for me too. Have you checked to see exactly which process is using CPU time with the top command?
