|
|
Hi,
I use one sync cable(no hot sync button) to sync my palm and desktop.
Whenever I plug the handheld to the laptop, the kernel will recognize the device, and create the /dev/pilot node for it.
In the Palm side,
Code: | Connecting with desktop using Cradle/Cable. |
I have added myself to usb group, and I've tried using root, I think permission is not a problem.
Then, I run
Code: | pilot-xfer -ls -p /dev/pilot |
Here is the output:
Code: |
No $PILOTPORT specified and no -p <port> given.
Defaulting to '/dev/pilot'
Listening to port: /dev/pilot
Please press the HotSync button now...
|
But.. Where is the HotSync button ? I have no such button.
After digging the forum for several days, I follow another approach:
I launch HotSync in Palm, and click the virtual button of HotSync, then plug the handheld. No output from /var/log/messages, the kernel does not detect the device at all, no /dev/tts/usb%n, no /dev/palm.
What should I do ?
Thanks for your patience to read the lengthy post, and any suggestion is appreciated(except buying usb cradle, using IR, Bluttooth, modem etc:)). |

I just want to ask a stupid question for those using udev:
When you plug-in the plam, would you please check the /var/log/messages? Have the system recognized the device ?
For my case, there are no messages output, until I click the big button in HotSync, or push the HotSync in the cradle.
Then the application waits for HotSync button for ever, even I push the button several times.
Thanks for your advice. |

You have to press the Sync Button on your DockingStation.
At least with my m105 everything works fine (port: /dev/pttyS0, i use jpilot (jpilot.org)). But if you have only a link cable without docking station, I don't know what to do ... |

this might be a silly question, but have you tried pressing the Hotsync button (in the hotsync program) after plugging in the usb cable? _________________ Nebbie
