I just installed Gentoo afresh, with the difference that my mighty cable has been replaced with a puny ADSL (login/password/rp-pppoe) connection on the student-flats internal network

Now so far, If i boot the kernel with the nodhcp command line option, run adsl-setup, then adsl-start I've got internet.

Yet I have to do this manually every time, just typing adsl-start will get me a timeout, then an error when I try to do it again.

I want my adsl to go up with the system, and down with the system, and I don't want to wonder wether I've got connection or not.

How can I manage this?

Try

# rc-update add rp-pppoe default

my adsl connection comes up when booting and goes down when rebooting/shutdown

regards
