Hi,
I have recently installed Gentoo and have managed to get most things working properly. However, I have a problem with my Zip drive. When the machine boots I receive the following messages:

hdc: IOMEGA ZIP 100 ATAPI, ATAPI FLOPPY drive
.
.
.
hdc:end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 0
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 2
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 4
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 6
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 0
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 2
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 4
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 6
unable to read partition table

Checking in the forums I see that this usually means a bad disk, but this disk can be read under windows on the same machine with no problems.

Any suggestions?

David

IIRC, if you boot the machine with a zip disk in the drive you won't get this error.

I've tried it with several different zip discs (all of which work under Windows) but get exactly the same problem each time. Seems like I'll never be able to get rid of Windows!!
