I have installed gentoo on a Fusitsu/Siemens RX200 with a
megaraid controller. The installation went fine but all kernels
I compile hangs after "Uncompressing kernel Ok now booting".
I first tried to compile it myself and then tried to use genkernel.
The result is always the same. I had a similar problem when
booting from the gentoo 2004.1 live cd with the smp kernel.
It worked with the 2.4 kernel though. The problem disappeard
on the 2004.2 live cd. I would very much appreciate an answer
since I should get the server up and running next week.
Is this likely to be caused by a problem with the scsi configuration
in the kernel or should the boot process have gone further than
hanging immediately if that was the problem?
Best regards

Did you build megaraid into your Kernel as * and not M? _________________ While your waiting for your post to be answered, please help with unanswered posts. |

I compiled megaraid as *. I hava now managed to boot the
genkernel generated kernel if I give noapic as boot option and
not using the initrd image. Is this a bad sign? I didn't have to give
noapic to the gentoo live cd 2004.2 but it was nescessary for the
2004.1 cd (se above).
Best regards
