Hi guys,
I try to install a new gentoo-64 on K8v and Via k8t800.
So, with the cd 2004.2, I boot, modprobe sk98lin and I got eth0. Now time to have network, I try net-setup eth0, I select DHCP, and... after 15sec it tell me to check ifconfig if everything is ok. ifconfig have only lo and lsmod tell me sk98lin is loaded but the LED on my modem is shutdown.... I use a cable High-speed connection. It's kinda weird, so if you guys can help me plz.
Thanks |

Oh if you want to know, dmesg tell me:
speed 100
autonegociation yes
duplex mode full
flowctrl symmetric
irq moderation disabled
scatter-gather enabled
etho: no IPv6 routers present
eth0: network connection down |

try just modprobing the module and then try dhcpcd eth0. Then look at dmesg and post the output of modprobe and dhcp. Errors are logged there

have just seen your last post. it looks like there is no cable or the wrong cable in, otherwise the last line wouldn't appear. Can you speak to the modem from any other os?

i have here a samsung cable modem which works great. could it be that it just lets some MACs go through? Or perhaps you have to delete your dhcp-cache for eth0 at /var/cache/dhcpcd-eth0.cache. What happens when you execute dhcpcd eth0, what says dmesg?

When I do dhcpcd eth0, it take very long time like 45sec and my eth0 disapear from ifconfig and my LED shutdown. nothing particular in dmesg, same thing,
speed 100
autonegociation yes
duplex mode full
flowctrl symmetric
irq moderation disabled
scatter-gather enabled
etho: no IPv6 routers present
eth0: network connection down
It's kinda weird.. :S |
