im now doing a stage3 2004.2 amd64 installation and i am a toally confused about emerge !
i don't get the installting of the ebuilds in stage3 (on cd) working, i have set PKGDIR to /usr/portage/distfiles but when i do emerge -k grub-static for example it tries to connect to a server !
what in order do i simply have to do, to install an ebuild !!!

Moved from German to IG.
I guess you neet to set either PKGDIR pointing to the directory on your packages-cd or copy the binary packages to the directory. |

Where and when should i set PKGDIR ?
And what is the right command syntax for installing an ebuild from the gentoo installlation cd ?
