dear all,

i am now downloading the necessary sources files by the following cmd line:
Code Listing 10: Downloading the necessary sources

# cd /usr/portage
# scripts/bootstrap.sh -f

However, I have problem when downloading from www.research.ibm.com and error was prompted:
!! Couldnt download protector-3.3.2-2.tar.gz. Aborting.
!! Fetch for /usr/portage/sys-devel/gcc/gcc-3.3.4-r1.ebuild failed, continuing
!!! some fetch errors were encoutered. Please see above for details...

It is a problem assoicated with the ibm server or with my setting (but I am ok with other files). Is there any other alternatives for processing from stage 1 to stage 2? Please kindly advise.

Thx
ET

I'm having the same kind of error on scripts/bootstrap.sh
Code:
Resolving ftp.ipv6.uni-muenster.de... failed: Host not found.
>>> Downloading http://www.research.ibm.com/trl/projects/security/ssp/gcc3_3_2/protector-3.3.2-2.tar.gz
--18:59:03--  http://www.research.ibm.com/trl/projects/security/ssp/gcc3_3_2/protector-3.3.2-2.tar.gz
           => `/usr/portage/distfiles/protector-3.3.2-2.tar.gz'
Resolving www.research.ibm.com... 129.34.20.3
Connecting to www.research.ibm.com[129.34.20.3]:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
18:59:03 ERROR 404: Not Found.

!!! Couldn't download protector-3.3.2-2.tar.gz. Aborting.

On the IBM site, the protector version seems to be http://www.research.ibm.com/trl/projects/security/ssp/gcc3_4_1/protector-3.4.1-1.tar.gz
That's why it doezn't find the 3.3.2-2 one ?
Are some of my portage or other file not up to date ?

Any way, changing the mirrors by hand in the make.conf handled the problem... :wink:
