Is it possible to make a printer in cups that I can share with samba that prints documents to a file?
I've got a linux fileserver and some windows clients, I need to be able to print to a file instead of a printer.. I've tried some programs in windows but the output includes some non-human-readable characters..
So since i use cups and samba to share printers I was wondering if this is possible? |

Since you can print to a file from Windows, logic dictates that you can then save this file on a Linux server - which accomplishes the same thing.
But yes, you can specify a file:// as a printer device in CUPS - something you would have seen inside a minute if you just tried it
I think, however, that you want to just output text to the file - which needs a plain-text driver; not sure if CUPS will do that. _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /
