Ragazzi aiuto, non capisco, se setto il layout it in xorg col mio siemens amilo pro la u accentata continua a darmi \ e varie altre cose... credo che continui ad essere impostata la us!
che fare?

Se avvii in frame-buffer (o modalità testo) hai la tastiera us????
In tal caso prova a settare it anche in /etc/conf.d/locale

il locale influenza i messaggi di testo delle applicazioni non la tastiera!
wildancer, in /etc/rc.conf hai messo la linea:
EDIT: se invece in console va tutto bene e il problema é in X bisogna modificare la keyboard nella configurazione di X

Anch'io ho avuto lo stesso problema con un portatile Asus.
Ho risolto configurando, come ha detto randomize, la variabile KEYMAP="it" in /etc/rc.conf
e con la seguente configurazione in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Option "LeftAlt" "Meta"
