just copy the ebuild in portage and use digest. Code: | cp /usr/local/portage/x11-libs/qt/qt-3.3.4-r2.ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-libs/qt/qt-3.3.4-r3.ebuild
ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-libs/qt/qt-3.3.4-r3.ebuild digest |
Works perfect here.
Edit: Fixed typo in last line of code.

You're God but should Code: | ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-libs/qt/qt-3.3.4-r2.ebuild digest | not be Code: | ebuild /usr/local/portage/x11-libs/qt/qt-3.3.4-r3.ebuild digest | ???
anyway, it works, qt is re-compiling... |

What's the difference between monolithic and split downloads?
AHH! How can I use these ebuilds instead of the versions already in portage?? _________________ Check out my...

I'm having issues with the rubberband working...
It just doesn't. I've got the old style rubberband still, no matter what I select in the Style -> Effects dialog...
Anything that I might be missing? _________________ Check out my...

if you have put the files in the overlay, digested them, then re-install qt, and kdebase and kdelibs etc- guess you followed the directions. well, there is one thing not in there: there is a new qt version. the current version is -r3, the ovarlay is for -r2. so you have to use qt -r2 OR copy the overlay ebuild to -r3 and digest it again. you can read about this just a few posts above yours.
so you're qt version does not match your ebuild, the original version is used, and you see no rubberband. |

well, when I installed it, I did:'
Code: | emerge -v '=qt-3.3.4-r2' '=kdelibs-3.4.0' '=kdebase-3.4.0' kde |
Any help?
The pretend output showed [1] after each qt, libs, and base... and when they were installing, the work directory (for QT anyway) was something-purty-something/
Hmmmm, I downloaded the "monolithic" download, but it didn't include an ebuild for kdeartwork... could that be it? Konqueror doesn't have the new sidebar either... _________________ Check out my...

EDIT:
OK, perhaps I typed that out a little too fast...
My Rubberband (the new one) does not work still. I tried the KDE 3.4 builds and didn't like them anyway, so I went back to 3.3. I installed the patches (using the ebuilds) for kde 3.3.2, and made sure that when I installed them, it was using the overlay...
Do I need the renderaccel or composite option/extensions turned on? I've got an ATi graphics card.
When kdebase was installing, I had to edit aclocal.m4 because it contained the wrong version of automake (it wanted 1.9.1, I changed that to 1.9.4), if that has anything to do with it...
Perhaps I am going to have to live with a boring rubberband, but a response would be well liked... Thanks _________________ Check out my...

Well it's nice to know it's not just me...
An update.. I've tried both the renderaccel and composite extensions.. the composite doesn't work for ATi cards (STILL) and the renderaccel did nothing. _________________ Check out my...

they shouldn't do anything, i'm afraid. both don't work anymore on nvidia, anyway - if you use the latest drivers. |

Compositing doesn't work on the latest nvidia drivers?? hmmmm | well, compositing does work, but renderaccel does not - eg composite is absolutely not usable (redraws can take half a second). |

kde-base/kdelibs-3.4.0-r2 is out, are there any changes required to the patch ebuilds or is it just a simple copy/rename for the ebuild? _________________ "Expect nothing. That way you will be ready for anything - Virginia Viadura"

copy the new kdelibs ebuild to your overlay dir
add this line Code: | # The KDE Improvement patches from KDE Look.
epatch "${FILESDIR}/${P}-pertty.patch" | to the section Code: | src_unpack() {
kde_src_unpack |
save, digest and emerge it _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

umm.. a little hard I think as kde 3.4.1 isn't realeased yet
superstoned wrote: | and: is someone working to get these into KDE 3.5??? |
my goodness we are all keen this morning, aren't we!
the author has been in contact with kde devs since 3.3.1, and I think they seem to be impressed.
either they will be included in kde 3.5, or we will have some patches for it. either way you should be right

i know but i wondered if there was any progress (i don't see his patches in kde SVN) as i didn't hear anything about them.
esp the selection square and the rounded selection thingies for files etc are very cool, i'd love to see them in kde. |

I made new ebuilds. I dropped support for the monolithic ones do to time constraints and also, the monolithic ones will be depreciated anyways. I made new split ebuilds and I have a new QT ebuild. If all goes well, I will be uploading the ebuilds later today so stay tuned.
If you want the monolithic ones, just change 3.4.0 to 3.4.1 in the pertty patch name and copy over the patch line that I have in those ebuilds. The split ebuilds are a little trickier.
