net.etho syntax errors(solved)

I converted from ~x86 to x86 over the weekend and I now have a problem with syntax errors in net.eth0. It just runs /sbin/runscript. I manage to manually bring up the network but it is ov course lost on next boot.

I found the ole bug similar to this but I am on Baselayout 1.9.4-r3

Any ideas???

The net.eth0 file was only 3 lines long. all versions of it even the one in the portage tree on my machine. Someone else had a similar problem and posted the net.eth0 file so I was able to cut and paste, viola!
