Hi!

I know that this forum is not the right place to ask this question!
But i have a big problem i need a good program for bandwidth throttlig for windows server 2003.

i have one server computer that has two network adapters one for internet and one for local network. we are about 30 peoples on the lan and i need to limit bandwidth beacuse some peoples on the lan are downloading movies and shome shit, that takes the most f the bandwidth.
I wonder if there is any soulution?! Im not that good at linux, but i will install it on the server when i have time!

I am not too familiar with windows software, sorry :(. But if you use a linux based router, you can setup iptables to limit in/out bandwidth. The exact rule escapes me at the moment.

Your best bet would be to look into a third party firewall/router for your windows 2003 server computer.

Iptables is not for bandwidth throttling (although it has some basic features that make it possible to implement simple limits). What you need is iproute2. See a quick tutorial here and an exhaustive documentation here. As for your question: yes, it is absolutely possible to do that with iproute2.

fastest way would be to send out an email threatening to report them the th motion picture association if they continue

its also possible to limit certain ports they use
