Ok,
I had sound working in udev but something happened and now I get this error when logging in.
Quote: | Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Permission denied)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device. |
It works when I log in as root but not as a user. I know the issue is with udev permissions but not sure what. It was working only 10 minutes ago before I signed out. Here is my udev permissions

Is your regular user (not root) in audio group ?
If not, add him in group audio and this might work better
You can edit as root /etc/group to do so. |

Ok it is udev because when I boot up using my dvfs compiled kernel audio is fine. When I reboot using my udev compiled kernel I get this error. Funny thing is my permissions look right. It is as if it is ignoreing the permissions or not seeing my user groups. _________________ Thanks

Ok I have not solved it yet but doing some research it appears to be an issue when I loaded entrance. It loades esd which I believe is causeing the issue. It may be the esd driver needed to be loaded or something. Still looking. _________________ Thanks

I fixed it. Found it somewhere in the forum:
/etc/security/console.perms is messing up the permissions on a udev only system. I made a backup of the file and cleared the whole file. Now everything is working fine. Hope that helps... |
