Perhaps you may want to skim/read The Cathedral and the Bazaar, by Eric S. Raymond. It dicusses the advantages of the open development model, where source code can have many thousands of people worldwide looking at it, fixing it, and improving it, over the Proprietary software model, where only a select few every look at the code and know what it does and how to maintain it or fix it.

With statistics you can prove everything. Be sure that your opponent will very likely have similar statistics proving him right.

Anyway, don't forget to read up on Get the Facts (Microsoft). It's not only mandatory to know everything about your subject, you also need to know (and counterproof) the opponent's arguments.

Statistics: I am 50% more awesome than virtually all people without having to use Linux or anything like of that nature.

Oh yeah... for open source software. Well, I really do not see what statistics you are looking for. Could you elaborate?

http://www.sourceforge.net/

Gaim, phpBB, ipw2{1,2}00, etc, ALSA, VNC, Putty, etc. Stuff that's used by millions of people worldwide because it's faster, more reliable, and more capable. All open-source (as defined by the OSI).

why not use one of thouse pages that show *bsd and linux uptime in years, in the server game every second down is lots of money and lossing money is bad so linux is better than windows

failing that you could just print off a few hundred pages of unfixed windows bugs and talk about root/user seperation and how because linux has no comercial preasures as such it could impliment this
