hi im beand new to gentoo and i have tried installing gentoo step3.
kastnight i got to rebooting and encountered a serious problem. when i restarted i got a black screen just saying "Error loading operating system" I configed and emerged lilo. i have my boot loader. i am dual booting windows xp and gentoo. windows is my first partition but not my bootable
i am booting off of /dev/hda2 which is the first of the linux partitions. then i have (odviously) /dev/hda3 as the swap and /dev/hda4 as the user disk. I CANT FIGURE THIE OUT! please help me. thanks. |

Id boot using the livecd, mount your partitions, chroot in and check /etc/lilo.conf. Almost sounds like you didnt update the bootloader config accordingly. After you make the relevant changes, make sure to run /sbin/lilo so that they are applied.
You should just be able to: mount /dev/hda4 /mnt/gentoo, chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash, then nano or vim or whatever the lilo conf file.
