mplayer should if you compile it with +network, or you can emerge asfrecorder and dump the stream to a file. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |

hmmm
Looks like I'll be re-emerging mplayer then.
Dumping a stream to a file is out of the question considering how I listen to online radio stations for hours at a time while I work.
Thanks for the reply.

Back when I had a RH10 system Mozilla with Realaudio plugin 8/9,streaming worked.
RealAudio10 doesn't and you're one of the few other's that I've run across that is as disappointed as I am.
Maybe if you can find RealAudio 8/9 on the net which I haven't then I think you could get streaming to work on a linux box

I believe it so.
If I remember right there are two versions of the asf codec. An old verson that Real will work with and the new one that only works if you have the proper codec installed.
The other day while googling on this I found an article (can't remember where) about M$ stopping all open source developement pertaining to their propreitary codec.
I'm gonna see if I can't get media player 9 working with wine.Sure doubt it though. _________________ "Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing." Albert Einstein |

Well that was a major waste of time.Seems M$ has made sure Windows media player 7 and up will not install on anything other than a genuine M$ os.
The installer will actually act like its installing the app and adds registry entries but no binary is placed anywhere on the drive.
** Just found out it is a license violation so I'm not going to waste my time with it any longer. _________________ "Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing." Albert Einstein |

Latest version installed: [ Not Installed ]
Size of downloaded files: 142 kB

Thanks for the reply infirit but I've already tried it.Like I mentioned earlier, M$ has two versions of the asf codec. Unfortunately the xmms-wma only works with the older version. _________________ "Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing." Albert Einstein |
