Hi folks ,
I've read that several other ppl also have kind of this problem that memory consumption of the X process is increasing steadily, causing bad system responsiveness due to swapping.
What you can do if you are experiencing this problem is have a look at http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=127681#c2 (basically says it's mostly a bad app's fault, not X's) and 'emerge -v xrestop' then 'xrestop' to have a look at the programs using X server ressources.
My X VmSize has been climbing up steadily, peaking at almost one gig this night after a week. I got 1 gig RAM and 768MB swap, meaning I just cannot work when the running system uses 1.7 GBytes of VM . Madness. Have to find out myself what the culprit is..
