|
|
I'm running an ~x86 system and after emerging gnome-2.8 it ran just fine. While in gnome, I decided to un-emerge rox and some other progs. I then decided to trash a few things in my home dir that I thought were created by rox. I put ~/Desktop in the trash and then I emptied my trash folder. I also noticed that there was a trash icon and a trash folder on my desktop. I quit gnome ( I use .xinitrc ) and then rm -rf the .Trash dir. After starting gnome, I now no longer have a desktop, everything is black with just a top and bottom panel. Nautilus will no longer start up at all. I can run some gnome progs, but I can no longer right click on the desktop or start nautilus. I've tried the following things, to no avail:
1) I re-emerged nautilus.
2) I rm'd all .gnome* .gconf* .nautilus .metacity .gtk* stuff in my home dir.
3) created a new user and logged in and started gnome, thinking that gnome would create everything it needed to run. There is no desktop for the new user, and nautilus won't start.
4) I did revdep-rebuild
Any one have any ideas ???
